During the photocall of the Luftwaffeninstandhaltungsregiment 1 in Erding May 20th 2006 a special colored aircraft was shown to the public the first time. It was the 83+09, Super Lynx Mk88A (c/n 412) of the Marinefliegergeschwader 3 in Nordholz. The aircraft received this color scheme to celebrate 25 years of Lynx operations with the German Navy and 50 years of German Navy which is celebrated with an airday of the MFG3 at Nordholz August 27th 2006.
The scheme has the Lynx as main motif. Lynx lynx is the Latin name for the Eurasian Lynx or the Northern Lynx.
Some parts of the scheme are made with a special kind of paint which changes its color depending on light conditions and the angle you look at it (e.g. blue turns into green and the color of the eye of the lynx changes from yellow to red). The rest was made with standard colors. All the details were put on by three service men of the MFG3 in Nordholz. The other parts were made by the people in Erding. The underside is made up of the normal color used for the Lynx. The color scheme puts on 28kg extra weight to the helicopter.
