Roger Seroo and Tom van der Zeeuw and their team invited to a photocall to present their refurbished aircraft located in the former QRA area at this ex RAF airfield. The following jets were present:
Lockheed F-104G Starfighter, C/N 8001
This is the 1st license build F-104G of Fokker that was destined for Germany. During its operational life it was known as KG-101, BF+245 and 23+27 before it was moved to Fassberg and withdrawn from use (wfu). After it spend some time at the Bevrijde Vleugels Museum in the Netherlands it came to Laarbruch.
Lockheed F-104G Starfighter, C/N 9095
This aircraft was taken over by the Belgian air force and received the serial FX-52 in 1964. It was wfu in1983 with more than 3000 flying hours on the clock and put into storage at Koksijde. After changing the owner for a couple of times it was brought to Laarbruch on a truck in spring 2005. This aircraft requires a lot of work due as it suffered a lot.
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21M, C/N 962008
This aircraft was operated by the 10.elt (tactical squadron) of the Polish air force. It came to Laarbruch via an owner of the Netherlands. In Laarbruch it is used for the "Military Pilot Training" program to show interested people how military jet pilots are trained.
Around 1145 four Piaggio P-149 (D-EGIT, D-EERP, D-EFTU, D-EEGD) landed at Laarbruch and taxied to the display area and were joined later by a chipmunk. The participation of a Yak-52 was cancelled due to technical problems.
JetJournals verdict: A small but very nice and interesting event.
