Weather: cloudy in the morning, blue sky and shine in the afternoon

The EADS Military Systems facility in Manching/Ingolstadt celebrated its 45^th anniversary with a family day. And the family seemed to be huge. Round about 100.000 visitors came and some people needed hours to get to airfield and the catering hardly managed to serve the crowd. To the surprise of many nearly all parts of the company were accessible even the Eurofighter Typhoon assembly. Pictures could be taken everywhere and all questions were answered.

In the static display were nearly all aircraft present that are built or receive maintenance by EADS. Even the Barracuda was shown to the public. But there wasn't much time to walk around. Shortly after noon the flying display started. It started with the planes of the EADS historical flight like the Me-109. The highlight for many people was the 2^nd public appearance of the Me-262. This replica took to the air for the first time in spring 2006 and made its 1^st public appearance at the ILA2006 in Berlin Schoenefeld. Helicopters like the Bo 105, NH90 and Tiger followed this. After the Transall the fans of jet noise were pleased. The first flying display of a German F-4F Phantom and Tornado IDS for more than two years was enjoyed by most of them. The Eurofighter closed the program.
